McLaren C12
It’s been eleven years since McLaren last produced its own road car (the F1) but this year the Formula 1 giant is once again stepping up to the plate with plans for the 12C, which will be manufactured next to the company’s headquarters in Woking. McLaren has spent the last six years in partnership, designing and manufacturing the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren line of sports cars with the German carmaker but that has now come to an end and the company is obviously looking for another output for its manufacturing and design capabilities. The new C12 will be aimed at the £125,000 and £175,000 market and is likely to appear some time in 2011. Despite the flatness of the current market, Chairman Ron Davis said “I am confident that now is the right time for McLaren Automotive.”
