Volvos’ Crash Test Lab Birthday

posted by Berkshire admin in Uncategorized

Volvo’s high tech crash test site is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year with the facility in Torslanda Sweden having carried out 3,000 full-scale tests during that time.  Apparently the risks of being injured or involved in an accident in a new Volvo have almost halved since the 1970s and the company wants to be able to live up to its promise that no one should die or be seriously injured in a Volvo by 2020.  When the facility was opened back in 2000 it was one of the most advanced in the industry and it has continued to hold a position at the forefront of safety development.

911 GT2 RS Scariest Car Ever?

posted by Berkshire admin in Uncategorized

According to the BBC’s Top Gear, there is a case for arguing that the Porsche 911 GT2 RS is in fact the scariest car ever.  Details of the car were released by Porsche back in May, indicating that it’s the fastest and most powerful road car ever and it’s this fact that makes the programme a little uneasy. The normal 911 GT2 is already one of the most “monstrous” cars on the road, with a 523bhp twin-turbo six feeding the rear wheels and a reputation for going sideways and never coming back.   Well the new RS will go from standstill to 124mph in under ten seconds and has a power-to-weight ratio of 435bhp per tonne.  You can see why they’re nervous.

Lexus Top For Customer Satisfaction

posted by Berkshire admin in Uncategorized

For the tenth year in a row carmaker Lexus has come top in the J.D. Power and Associates/What Car? 2010 UK Vehicle Ownership Satisfaction Study thanks to “continuous and unsurpassed levels of service and satisfaction.” The company has sped past its more competitive rivals once again despite some fierce competition.  Lexus’ customer satisfaction score was a huge 846 on a 1000-point scale, scoring highly in areas like vehicle quality and reliability, vehicle appeal and service satisfaction. The UK Vehicle Ownership Satisfaction Study is based on the evaluations of more than 17,000 online interviews from UK car owners after an average of two years of ownership.

Jaguar XF Best Executive Car

If you can judge a car by the happiness of its driver then Jaguar are steaming ahead of the competition.  The carmaker has been named best executive model for its JD Power debut by What Car? Magazine who put Jaguar as a leading manufacturer in a UK owner satisfaction survey.  The Jaguar XF also finished second overall and helped Jaguar to its position as third out of 27 manufacturers – an improvement of 13 points from 2009. The survey, published in the latest edition of What Car?, showed Jaguar XF owners were particularly happy with the car’s styling as well as highlighting the car’s running costs, performance and refinement for particular praise.

The New Audi A2

posted by Berkshire admin in Uncategorized

You may (or may not) remember the original Audi A2, first produced back in 2000 and then discontinued in 2005 due to lack of demand.  Well it’s back and this time its ‘revolutionary.’  Audi is currently working on a new city version of the car which would be powered by electricity and made from lightweight materials.  The revolutionary part comes in the form of downloads – in the same way as you would an app for the Iphone, customers would be able to download ‘apps’ for the car including heated seats and suspension alterations. The new version is being pitched by the company as “a futuristic interpretation of urban mobility”.
